Pine Mountain Music Festival (PMMF) was founded in 1991 and produces a season of opera, symphony and chamber music performances during June and July each summer. The Festival is located near Lake Superior in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, an area renowned for natural beauty and outdoor recreational activities. The PMMF has gained national attention in recent years and attracts top professional artists who are drawn to its beautiful venues and reputation for producing performances of high quality.
Established in 1998, the PMMF Resident Opera Artist Program is under the direction of Program Director Lucy Thrasher (Voice/Opera Faculty, Concordia College, MN) and Artistic Director Joshua Major (Opera Director, University of Michigan).
The 2012 PMMF Resident Opera Artists will tour Mozart's Così fan tutte (sung in Italian) with chamber orchestra, fully staged and directed by Artistic Director Joshua Major. Under Jerry DePuit (University of Michigan), Resident Opera Artists will perform in Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music. They will perform three opening gala concerts and receive coaching with the Festival’s musical and dramatic personnel.
Housing and a weekly stipend are provided.
We are not holding auditions for the 2013 season, as the Festival will not be producing an opera. We expect to return to our regular programming in the summer of 2014. Please check back in Fall 2013 for audition informaiton. Thank you!
