The Pine Mountain Music Festival (PMMF) was founded in 1991 and produces a season of opera, symphony and chamber music performances during June and July each summer. The Festival is located near Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, an area renowned for its natural beauty and outdoor recreational activities. The PMMF has gained significant national attention in recent years and continues to attract top professional artists who are drawn to its beautiful theaters and reputation for producing performances of high quality.

Established in 1998, the PMMF Resident Opera Artist Program (ROA) is under the direction of Program Director Lucy Thrasher (Voice/Opera Faculty, Concordia College, MN) and Artistic Director Joshua Major (Opera Director, University of Michigan). It is a program for emerging professional singers to help them enter the profession and garner valuable experience on and off the stage.
