Hristina Blagoeva joins Pine Mountain Music Festival this year with Miles Massicotte, Giovanni Perez and the UPstarts. She is a New York based flutist and educator and has performed at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, The Players Theater, Suffolk Community College and Le Poison Rouge in New York, as well as in Harvard University and Queens Park Theater in Western Australia. In her native Bulgaria, she was a winner of the German/Austrian Chamber Music Competition, The Earth and People Music Competition, and the Young Virtuosi National Music School Competition. Internationally, she was a winner in the First European Meeting Competition in Pachino, Italy and most recently, in Germany she is the winner of the “Assoluto” prize (first prize) for solo flute in the “Musical Fireworks in Baden-Württemberg” International Music Competition.In the USA, Hristina won the Louisiana State University twice in 2006, 2007 and the Mississippi Jackson Concerto Competitions in 2005. In 2015 she was a second prize winner of the Gershwin International Music Competition in New York City, and a semi-finalist of the Concert Artist Guild Music Competition (NYC) and the Astral Music Competition in Philadelphia, PA.Hristina has collaborated with ThingNY, Les Amies Trio and is the co-founder of the Iktus Duo (flute and percussion). The Duo has toured in Universities and festivals in Louisiana, Texas, Maryland, New Jersey and Harvard University in Massachusetts, Washington State, Portland, Seattle, Illinois and Colorado. Hristina is also a co-founder of Spectrum Trio which just performed at New Music for Strings, Aarhus, Denmark and at Mise-en Studio in NYC.Ms. Blagoeva has performed with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Sinfonietta Chamber Orchestra, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, Festival Hill Symphony, Natchez Festival Opera Orchestra, Opera Vista Company in Houston and the Long Island Choral Society Orchestra. In 2013, Ms. Blagoeva was an Artist in Residence at the Central Greenough Artist in Residence Program, Geraldon, Australia, where she led masterclasses and recitals.In 2018 Hristina performed at a sold out concert at le Poison Rouge for Philip Glass’s 81st birthday, with the composer in attendance. She has also recently performed at the New York Flute Fair, Suffolk Community College, Jack (NYC) and Bates College, Maine as well as the National Flute Association Convention in San Diego, CA.Hristina is on the faculty of the Long Island Conservatory of Music. She completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University in May 2018.
